During the 2007 Annual General Meeting (AGM), CHOICE decided on its internal organizational structure. Each year during the AGM, the organizational structure is evaluated and if needed, adapted.
The basis of CHOICE is formed by its members, or youth advocates. To ensure compliance according to domestic law & regulations CHOICE operates as an association, in which the members decide on essential and strategic decisions. These decisions are voted on during the General Meetings (GM), the decision-making body of CHOICE. The CHOICE youth advocates also meet (structurally) in Taskforce (TF) and Working Group (WG) meetings. TFs are focused on specific internal CHOICE-issues; CHOICE youth advocates are always actively involved in TFs as they are indispensable for support of the daily business of CHOICE. Working Groups on the other hand focus on executing projects or specific donors. In conclusion, every individual member of CHOICE is member of a Taskforce and/or Working group, or the Daily Board. In September 2011, the following WGs and TFs were established, to remain active at least until the next AGM in fall 2012:
Working Groups:
• CPD (commission on population and development)
• IAC (international aids conference)
Taskforces:
• Communication (TFC)
• Training, Organization and Member Management (TOMM)
• Training modules (TMI)
All daily routines of CHOICE as an organization are the domain and responsibility of the CHOICE Executive Director (ED) and Partnerships Officer (PO). The ED is concerned with the daily supervision of CHOICE, and has has been granted power of attorney by the Board to make day-to-day decisions regarding the CHOICE activities. The Partnerships Officer's main responsibilities are fundraising and advocacy.
CHOICE is governed by the General Board, which consists of the Daily Board (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and one or more General Board Members) and three supervisory board members. The supervisory board members check all important documents, such as the yearly financial report and the yearly strategic plans, and supervise the functioning of the Daily Board. They make sure that CHOICE reaches the strategic goals that the Daily Board has set.
To offer advise where needed, CHOICE has had an Advisory Board in place since 2009. This Advisory Board exists to support CHOICE through its expertise and knowledge, and to strengthen and ensure the sustainability of our policies and the preservation of knowledge within CHOICE.
