Today, the ICPD beyond 2014 Global Youth Forum was launched, a youth advocacy event with aims to address the fact that youth voices have not been part of the ‘mainstream’ development debate. This is one of three thematic meetings part of the Operational Review Process and will take place on Bali from December 4 - 6 2012. The theme of the Forum will be ‘Youth Rights at the Heart of Development’. This gathering of UN agencies, young people, governments, NGOs and the private sector will allow young people to have a stronger voice, as it will feed directly into forging the future development goals. Over 900 delegates will agree on global recommendations for action on these 5 issues:
*Staying healthy
*Comprehensive education
*Transitions to decent employment for youth
*Sexuality, families and rights
*Fully inclusive civic participation
The call for applicants is now open. Young people under 30, preferably those under 24, are invited to apply. The deadline for applications is the 15th of September 2012, and you can find the application forms in English, Spanish and French.
