In 2010 and 2011, CHOICE worked with Kenyan organization WAYAN on a consultancy basis.
WSWM Alumni Youth Advocacy Network (WAYAN) is a youth led advocacy network, advocating for improved Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of young people in Kenya. It is a network of 20 young people from different parts of Kenya. WAYAN was founded in 2010 and has already successfully advocated for youth friendly services and access to contraceptives on a regional and national level.
CHOICE was asked to participate on a consultancy basis in a two year program of Rutgers WPF and the Kenyan Center for Study of Adolescence (CSA). They decided to support the ambition of a number of young people to advocate for the sexual and reproductive health and rights of youth in Kenya. CHOICE was consulted for program advice and input on a quarterly basis, among others through training WAYAN. The program ran until the end of 2011 and was funded by PSO, an association of sixty Dutch NGOs focusing on capacity building of civil society organizations.
