Meet the YP Foundation
The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth-led organisation that builds young people’s feminist and rights based leadership on issues of gender, sexuality, governance, health and education. TYPF is based in New Delhi and also runs programs in specific locations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. TYPF’s programs are run by young people for adolescents and youth and follow a leadership development approach to enable perspective and skill development to influence programs and policies in the long term.
TYPF was formed to address the gap between young people’s desire to engage more deeply with themselves and with the world around them and the lack of opportunities or encouragement for the same in institutions or community environments. To do this, TYPF builds young people’s perspective on social change, connects them with opportunities to lead and create on ground impact on relevant issues and enables them to address systemic gaps by policy and public advocacy based on their on ground experience.
TYPF's programmes address Adolescent and Youth SRHR, engaging men to prevent gender-based violence, enhancing Life Skills among children and youth, and promoting youth and adolescent Mental Health and well-being. The YP Foundation works with young girls and women, and other marginalised young people in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. TYPF works with both urban and rural youth, maintaining 70% outreach to young women and girls across programmes.
Partnership with CHOICE
TYPF has been partnered with CHOICE since 2014. This has been an exciting and fruitful partnership of two youth organisations working at two different levels – national and international. Since 2014, CHOICE has supported TYPF in building organizational capacity and resources on SRHR advocacy and young people’s rights, and further, on putting this learning into action in international advocacy spaces. The most concrete outcome of this partnership in 2017 was an advocacy strategy plan for TYPF, which integrates our national and international advocacy agendas. Currently, TYPF is partnered with CHOICE on engaging on issues of LGBTQ+ rights in international advocacy platforms.
All young people worldwide should be able to explore, experience and express their sexualities in healthy, pleasurable and safe ways.
