CHOICE Connectorweek 2017

It's connectorweek, this week! All week we are hosting sessions for our partners from all over the world. From the 2nd till the 6th of October, CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality will welcome representatives of nine of its youth-led partner organisations for the CHOICE Connectorweek 2017 that will take place in Amsterdam. This week is the perfect opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge for CHOICE and its partner organisations.

Connecting young people

Next to its roles as an advocate and a capacity builder, CHOICE also actively acts as a connector. Having a far-reaching network of youth and youth-led organisation, it is a great opportunity for CHOICE to be able to bring together these voices in order to create one strong and unified voice that advocates on the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people worldwide. The key objectives of this week will be cross-regional learning, capacity strengthening, strategizing and linking and learning.

#CHOICEconnects

In 2014 CHOICE organized its first connector meeting, the Youth Leadership FYI week (Fostering Youth Led Initiatives) with five of its partners in Nairobi. A year later, a second connector meeting took place in New York with four partners. This year, CHOICE brings together representatives of nine youth-led partner organisations: ARI from Indonesia, YP Foundation from India, Taya from Ethiopia, Naya from Kenya, Queer Alliance from Nigeria, YeCE from Malawi, Coalizao from Mozambique and Generation Alive from Zambia.

We believe it is valuable to learn from other youth-led organizations and to share knowledge and experience. Therefore, we have planned several sessions in which partners can share their best practices as well as the challenges they within their work as youth advocates working in a youth-led organisation on issues such as SRHR and gender diversity. During the week we will have different sessions on topics such as the Theory of Change, advocacy communication, youth movement building and the organisations will attend an ‘advocacy marketplace’.
