CHOICE for Youth & Sexuality has been working on capacitating young people for over 24 years. In those years we have given young people all over the world the skills to meaningfully participate in the decisions that are made about them. We have build the organizational capacity of a growing number of youth-led organizations all over the world and have seen them grow into independent, self-sustaining organizations. CHOICE believes in helping other youth-led organizations to build a global youth movement of informed young leaders. We not only help organisations with partnerships, but build the skills of individual youth advocates through the numerous resources and trainings we have created.

Right Here Right Now 2 (RHRN 2) is an SRHR program funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreigner affairs. The consortium team is composed by CHOICE, AMPF (Association Marocaine de Planification Familiale - Morocco), RHU (Reach a Hand Uganda), ARROW (Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women - Malaysia), Bandhu Social Welfare Society (Bangladesh), RNW media (Netherlands), and Rutgers (Lead organization - Netherlands). The vision of this partnership is for all Young People in all their diversity enjoy their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in gender just societies. The program is implemented in Bangladesh, Benin, Burundi, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Tunisia and Uganda. As consortium members, CHOICE’s role is supporting the capacity strengthening of Youth-Led Organizations in the country coalitions, as well as the overall integration of MIYP (Meaningful and Inclusive Youth Participation, as it has been defined in RHRN). Similarly, we are co-responsible for the international advocacy, where we support youth-led advocacy at global level and advocate for increased space for young people in international development and international decision-making spaces.

The Power to You(th) partnership is a Dutch ministry funded programme, that unites Amref Flying Doctors, Rutgers and Sonke Gender Justice, along with technical partners Royal Tropical Institute and CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality. Its overall objective is to contribute to adolescent girls and young women from underserved communities being meaningfully included in all decision-making, particularly focusing on harmful practices, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and unintended pregnancies. The programme is implemented in seven countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Senegal and Uganda, with coordination support and advocacy activities conducted in the Netherlands and globally. As a technical partner, CHOICE’s mandate is to support youth-led organisations (YLOs) and ensure meaningful youth participation (MYP) throughout the programme.

The Youth Champions for Feminist Futures program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and runs from March 2021 to February 2022. This project works with two Youth Champions from India and Nepal, and the goal is to raise awareness of issues that youth face with regards to their sexual and reproductive health and rights in their national context. This program will work with local youth to hear directly from them their experiences and SRHR challenges, and what they need from decision-makers, both nationally and internationally, to create positive, meaningful, and sustained change.

YOUTH AMBASSADOR SRHR

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality started a partnership in 2014 to set up a structure within the Ministry that ensures young people’s meaningful participation and sees them as equal partners and essential for the fulfillment of their sexual reproductive health and rights.

The Youth Ambassador SRHR works closely together with policymakers at the Ministry, the Dutch Ambassador for SRHR and HIV/AIDS,  civil society organizations and youth advocates from around the world, advocating for youth-centered SRHR. The Youth Ambassador SRHR gets access to official and informal negotiation spaces which are normally off limits to young people. Therefore, Youth Ambassador has the unique position to connect and support the international SRHR youth movement.
