Meet Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE)

Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education is a youth organization based in Malawi. It works towards creating a society where children and young people are protected, health and happy through the use of community mobilization, empowerment, capacity building and advocacy strategies. CYECE works with young people for them to realize their potential and creating an enabling environment for them to access quality and affordable Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights services as a human rights issue. CYECE has experience in engaging with young people and local communities to advocate for the implementation of local, regional and international policies on SRHR. Young people have been trained as peer educators and champions of youth SRHR.   

Partnership with CHOICE

CHOICE has been working with CYECE for a period of over 10 years in building the capacity of young people through advocacy skills to demand access to comprehensive SRHR in their communities. In their partnership with CHOICE, they have achieved a lot of successes like reduction of forced child marriages, teen pregnancies and school drop outs through the interventions that they have been conducting in Malawi. Currently, CYECE is working on two of CHOICE's programs: Get Up! Speak Out! and Yes I Do!
