Meet Reach a Hand Uganda
Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) is a youth led and youth serving non-profit organization focused on youth empowerment programs with an emphasis on livelihood and skills development, Behavior Change Communication (BCC), Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
RAHU’s work aims at empowering young people in Uganda aged 12-24 years with complete information, skills and tools which enable them live healthy, focused and productive lives. RAHU believes that young people’s concerns can only be well addressed by young people and that is why they work under the slogan “Young people for Young People.” RAHU is established on the values of being youth driven, transparency and openness, appreciation of diversity and teamwork.
RAHU is visible within schools and communities in the four main regions of Uganda where young people can be accessed and we employ innovative ways to engage the youth so that we can capture and highlight their voice in our activities and programming. These include community mobilization, integrated outreaches, social media campaigns and so much more.
Partnership with CHOICE
CHOICE works with RAHU under the Rights Evidence Action program. Together with CHOICE, RAHU aims to end the exclusion of LGBTQ persons by challenging stigma and bringing about a greater societal awareness of and acceptance for the sexual and reproductive rights of all young people. They aim to connect youth advocates with influential actors and stakeholders, strengthen evidence-based advocacy skills of youth advocates and civil society organizations to meaningfully participate in policy processes and train them to lobby for human rights including sexual and reproductive health and rights at all levels.
All young people worldwide should be able to explore, experience and express their sexualities in healthy, pleasurable and safe ways.
